Maybe you and a friend find strength and support from one another, and both of you have decided to undergo the journey that will take you to a new you.

What's so good about "Next Step Buddies"?
"Next Step Buddies" is not about "The latest group exercise" or the "Everybody Should Train like an Athlete" trend or any other misleading distractions that keep eager but confused enthusiasts pursuing unrealistic dreams.

"Next Step Buddies" is all about YOU and YOUR training partner. Are you new to training? Or are you advanced athletes looking to improve your performance?

Whatever your goals are, you need guidance that will help both of you take that important step. Though the two of you may share a common goal, chances are, you will have different structures and will need to approach exercise differently. "Next Step Buddies" is about acknowledging and addressing those differences in structures and needs, yet finding a common ground that will be challenging for both of you without compromising your safety or the quality of your training experience.

What is the experience like?
Your exercise prescription takes into account that you and your training buddy may be different yet share the same goal. "Next Step Buddies" will help you figure out those differences and find a beneficial common ground.

"Next Step Buddies" focuses 100% on what is productive for you, on what is productive for your buddy, and finally, what is productive for BOTH of you together as unit. This may not necessarily be what popular credos have led you to believe in the past. This focus alone INMMEDIATELY eliminates all that could be contraindicated for either one of you but ensures that your transition will be a productive one.

Every team of buddies without exception will receive individual attention and start with a thorough health screening and the Objective Structural and Biomechanical Analysis (OBSA).

This means that each team member must complete "The First Step" individually if they have not already done so.

Based on the results of OBSA, we will address the issues that interfere with your performance. Integrative Neurosomatic Therapy (INT) will be individually applied if needed along with an initial exercise prescription that will help you address those issues permanently and prepare you for the next step.

This is time for you, your buddy, and your coach. You will discover training techniques and exercises that may be foreign to you, but you will also discover why training two people with the same goals and different structures involves more than just push-ups and crunches.

We design your tandem exercise prescription based on the particular conditions of each one of you, and how they will help you address structural issues and help you reach your goals.

Sports Performance

Coach Izzy and Coach James For those actively involved in sports and seeking top performance. We analyze the demands of your sport on your different systems, and optimize the mechanisms that provide you with maximum performance and prevent you from developing imbalances or injuries.


Applications of Olympic Weightlifting for Sports Performance

Coach Izzy A jumping, mule-kicking, reverse curl is not a power clean, and a ballistic overhead deadlift is a not a snatch. They MAY resemble the Olympic Lifts, but be assured you will NOT get a fraction of the benefits the proper form provides.

To get the most out of the Olympic Lifts, you need experienced, knowledgeable coaching. We are pleased to say that not only are we top in the industry when it comes to understanding and applying the Olympic Lifts, we are also continuously improving and learning.

Olympic Weightlifting for competition (novices and advanced)

Coach James For those who want a deeper and objective understanding of the demands of the lifts and their technical aspects. Even if you are not planning on competing, you will learn and master the Olympic Lifts in the way that is more productive for your structure and will learn to appreciate the lifts in a way very few people in the country can teach you.

Competitive Style Olympic Lifting is the ultimate test of power, speed, flexibility, and strength.


Tandem Kettlebell instruction

Coach Izzy and Coach James This ancient tool has made a strong come back and for good reasons. Properly used and under the right conditions, the unique shape of the kettlebell will challenge your system in ways you thought were not possible.

Proper form is critical for the most benefits and safety and that can only be delivered by competent coaching. We were some of the most experienced and respected kettlebell instructors in the North East prior to making Bainbridge Island our home and bringing our experience to the Pacific North West. Once we determine your structures are ready for it, we will start your journey of discovery.

Because the focus will be only on you and your buddy, you are guaranteed individual attention and a pace that accommodates your growing skills. You will definitely be able to master the bells at a faster pace than large group instruction. Learn and understand the bells to apply them to your lifestyle.


Mixed Martial Arts

Coach Izzy and Coach James For those who are physically ready and looking to put their strength and power to good use, learning the basics of Mixed Martial Arts is an excellent way to supercharge your program and test your focus.

Practicing drills with an individual of similar skills is easy since your buddy will already be there!

Add a new dimension to your training and learn effective ways to fend off opponents while testing all your physical skills.


How often do we meet?
Depending on the results of your Structural and Biomechanical Assessment, your current conditioning, experience, and more important, your common ground and goals, we will be meeting from 2 to 3 times per week.

Remember, you will be working with a buddy and the well being of the buddy team as a whole takes priority. You will be presented with excellent options in our first meeting.
